Two songs from the 1990s Vaults of my "Industrial Blues" band Altruistic Suicide. These are unique in that they were pure studio recordings and never played live. They were also mastered to cassette and never released although I did play them for folks and got a dance company commission of of them as I recall.

The First song, "Groove" (titles are taken from the tape I found them on) , is a sample heavy mult-track concoction with pure 90s "industrial" Gothic organ stabs and various SkinnyPuppyesque effects and tricks. It's pretty much one of one and I don't recall ever doing another recording like it.

The second song, "No", is more traditional A.S. with distorted "vocals" and effected guitar. Probably a Boss DR660 drum machine doing the "loop". Can't even be sure who I was pissed off at at the time. Ah, youth.

As I recall both were recorded and mixed on a Tascam Porta05 4 track cassette (look it up kids) in my first apartment on 18th and Pine St. Probably the most advanced technology used was an original 12 bit Ensoniq EPS sampler which I bought from a guy in the Italian Market in South Philly. It used DD diskettes many of which I still have. There is also lots of Ibanez AD202 analog delay on this. I have tortured my neighbors with it for over two decades now and it is still going strong.

A Note on the recording: These are taken from 20 year old cassettes and there is hiss but the full bandwidth versions loaded up here on BC are infinitely better quality than the streaming you get from the main page. It does sound much better in 24 bit WAV form so for a buck you can have that too.

On the other hand, the boombox version is probably closer to how we listened to this stuff back then so if you want to be all retro throw it on a mix tape and do a shot of cold Jaeger in your self mutilated leather jacket for the lost.
