Concluding Track from the Music For Isolation Tanks album Nature/Nurture. This was actually one of the first beat oriented/Acid songs I ever recorded. Uber minimal it's possibly all TR606 and SH101 with arpeggios played live in and around the internal sequence.

Recorded dirty and lofi to four track cassette. While mixing a haunting sound started playing on the monitors. It turned out there was a recording on the previous side of the tape which played backwards as the mix continued at the conclusion of the track. I liked the accident and feel it rounds out the raw DIY atmosphere of the period so it stayed.

Nature Nurture was a collection from the late mid-late 1990s Music For Isolation Tanks recordings. Originally only available on cassette with a handful of CD copies made later these tracks have been remastered and are officially available here as the complete album with original bonus tracks for the first time.

These were mostly beat oriented pieces featuring walls of analog synths and vintage drum machines synced together and played live to analog multitrack and later master to DAT. Flavors of techno, acid, and ambient all mixed together with my usual disregard for genre. Or (sigh) practical commercial considerations for that matter.

I made this as an album to be listened to from beginning to end and I think the last few seconds of the final track wrap that up nicely if you've made the whole journey.

Nature/Nurture is one of the few full length beat oriented studio recordings I ever released (most were live sets) and I remember creating and mixing these songs in my tiny apartment on Pine st. The giant Linn Drum sat on a tower of rack gear while walls of music stands holding monosynths and mixers blocked out my bay windows and most of the light.

I recently found the digital master of this and listened to it in it's entirety Almost 20 years later I believe it still holds up and I'm damn proud of it.
