Yeti was one of the many incestuous Philadelphia Indie rock side projects that featured members of various bands who loved each other but never got around to playing together. The name came from a full size custom Abominable Snowman Halloween costume Christine sewed for Wayne one year. "If you have a giant white ape suit you kind of have to make a band to wear it in" the logic went.
Somehow this evolved into me narrating and playing samples of Sir Edmund Hillary and expeditions to find the elusive creature between and then during songs. Add to that a monstrous hairy rhythm section, Wayne's songs, and a Hawkwind cover and , well, *I* think it qualifies as a supergroup but you be the judge.
We rehearsed in the filthy, obscene, great garage in Fishtown all the other bands rehearsed in and played one show at Tritone (somewhere a video recording of that exists and may yet surface). I remember I had a 102 degree fever the night of the show and was sweating and coming close to hallucinating in all my Sherpa goggles and gear.
This recording was made right before the show "live" in the rehearsal space. Recently Jay reminded me how we snaked the mic through the ceiling and had it dangling in the center of the room from the rafters equally picking up or ignoring all of us at once. It's LoFi in the best way possible kids.
This bandcamp release contains the entire "Live! In the Town of Fish" CD we made as well as an additional song never recorded or released by any of Wayne's other projects he was working on at the time. I also restored the full scale spacerok jam that we went into after "Meltdown" as a bonus track at the end complete with our inner band primal "Raaaughs".
Who says synths don't rock? It all depends on who you're climbing the mountain with.
