"Thanks for coming to the Overdrive Date Master Christmas Show, all three of you..."

And so it begins.

Overdrive Date Master had a loud and sordid career in providing Psychedelic indie rock to the Phila masses throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Adding more and more pawn shop and flea market finds to the set eventually we decided to do a show based completely on multi-speed pitch shifting record players, tape echos, esoteric Vinyl from our vast weird collections, children's toys, and walls of John Martin tweaked tube amps. With Vibrato.

The Christmas Show had humble beginnings and the first show was 1997 at Upstairs at Nicks. Eventually ODM grew into doing this annually and the self described "Best One Show a Year Band in Philadelphia" played to crowds (yes like in hundreds) at various events, festivals, and even took the noise on the road. Remote controller robots were engaged, outfits, lights, candy, and Now Playing placards graced our Library of Congress for the Blind tools and vintage (even then) effects piles.

But what you have in your ears here, dear listener, is the beginning. A sound board recording made on a bad cassette tape deck from the fateful very first shows Dec 14, 1997. Scott the sound man added more effects from the board at the end. Vienna kindly served us drinks. Rick D. smiled, covered his ears, and booked us for the next few years.

Cassettes and a few CDs were made and distributed. Some were even sold. Some famous people have them. Now you can too.

This CD was digitally recorded from a stereo cassette master. All dropouts, errors in levels and panning and surface noise have been impeccably preserved to force you to listen to what the audience has to deal with.

Enjoy this mess. We did.
